Corned beef brisket (4lbs)
bay leaf
black peppercorns
rutabagas, cut in chunks
small whole onions, peeled
turnips, halved
cabbage, cut in wedges


Classic Boiled Corned Beef Dinner

Instructions

Place meat in a deep stock pot and cover with water. Add bay leaf and peppercorns. Bring to a boil then skim off foam. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 3 hours. Add vegetables and continue simmering for about 45 minutes or until vegetables and meat are tender. Serve corned beef surrounded with vegetables. Serves 6.
