Atkinspedia:Template messages/User talk namespace

From Atkinspedia

Jump to: navigation, search

These templates are placed on talk pages to warn a user against vandalism, convey a standardised message, or to place a standard boilerplate note at the top of a page. The templates are listed alphabetically and by series, and organised by intent: 'Warnings', 'Messages', 'Page headers', or 'shortcuts'.

Remember to always add "subst:" to substitute text, as this reduces server load and helps prevent instant-spread vandalism (see Atkinspedia:Template substitution for more information).

See Atkinspedia:Template messages/User talk namespace for an expanded page. </noinclude>These templates should always be used with the subst: keyword, as suggested on Atkinspedia:Template substitution. They are shown without subst: here to reduce the space occupied by this large table. For example, type {{subst:test}}, not {{test}}, to warn common first-time vandals.

To coordinate numbers, the previous blanking 2, 3, and 4 templates have been moved because they were out of sync with the numbering usage with other templates. The old templates, though not listed, can still be used as they redirect to the new name and number.

The numbering system being used across the templates is simple:

0. Good faith edit
1. General note
2. Could be seen as vandalism
3. Warning to stop
4. Final warning
5. Blocked
6. Blocked plus severe warning

If you are creating new templates, please follow the numbers above, even if you are not creating templates using all the numbers. That way, by using the right number, users will be able to know automatically what category of message the template refers to. <noinclude>

This template is a self-reference and so is part of the Atkinspedia project rather than the encyclopaedic content.

Detail of warnings

What to type What it makes
{{subst:attack}} Please do not make personal attacks on other people. Atkinspedia has a policy against personal attacks. In some cases, users who engage in personal attacks may be blocked from editing by admins or banned by the arbitration committee. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Please resolve disputes appropriately. Thank you.
{{subst:blank}} Please do not replace Atkinspedia pages with blank content. Blank pages are harmful to Atkinspedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Thanks for contributing to Atkinspedia!
{{subst:blank2}} Please do not replace Atkinspedia pages or sections with blank content. It is considered vandalism. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks.
{{subst:blank3}} Please stop. If you continue to blank pages, you will be blocked from editing Atkinspedia.
{{subst:blank4}}
This is your last warning. The next time you blank a page, you will be blocked from editing Atkinspedia.
{{subst:blank5}} You have been blocked from editing Atkinspedia for blanking pages. After the block expires, feel free to come back, but please make useful contributions instead.
{{subst:blatantvandal}}
Welcome to Atkinspedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits are considered vandalism, and if you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the hard work of others. Thank you.
{{ subst:blatantvandal-n{{#if:Article||Article}}{{#if:||{{{3}}}}}{{#if:||{{{4}}}}}{{#if:||etc.}}{{#if:||subst={{{subst}}}}} }}
Welcome to Atkinspedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing. However, unconstructive edits, such as those you made to Article, are considered vandalism. If you continue in this manner you may be blocked from editing without further warning. Please stop, and consider improving rather than damaging the hard work of others. Thanks.
{{subst:BlueHelmet}} Please try to write in a measured, nuanced, encyclopedic and factual way. Excessive and tendentious edits might disturb the work of other editors and be reverted. You might try using a more neutral point of view in this respect. Thank you.
{{subst:comment2}} Please do not add commentary and your personal analysis of an article into Atkinspedia articles. Doing so violates Atkinspedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.
{{ subst:comment2-n{{#if:Article||Article}}{{#if:||{{{3}}}}}{{#if:||{{{4}}}}}{{#if:||etc.}}{{#if:||subst={{{subst}}}}} }} Please do not add commentary and your personal analysis of an article into Atkinspedia articles, as you did to Article. Doing so violates Atkinspedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.
{{subst:comment3}} Please stop. If you continue to violate Atkinspedia's NPOV policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, you will be blocked from editing Atkinspedia. Furthermore, reinserting the same commentary multiple times may cause you to be blocked as well.
{{ subst:comment3-n{{#if:Article||Article}}{{#if:||{{{3}}}}}{{#if:||{{{4}}}}}{{#if:||etc.}}{{#if:||subst={{{subst}}}}} }} Please stop. If you continue to violate Atkinspedia's NPOV policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, as you did to Article, you will be blocked from editing Atkinspedia. Furthermore, reinserting the same commentary multiple times may cause you to be blocked as well.
{{subst:comment4}}
This is your last warning. The next time you violate Atkinspedia's neutral point of view rule by inserting commentary or your personal analysis into an article, you will be blocked from editing Atkinspedia.
{{ subst:comment4-n{{#if:Article||Article}}{{#if:||{{{3}}}}}{{#if:||{{{4}}}}}{{#if:||etc.}}{{#if:||subst={{{subst}}}}} }}
This is your last warning. The next time you violate Atkinspedia's NPOV rule by inserting commentary or your personal analysis into an article, as you did to Article, you will be blocked from editing Atkinspedia.
{{subst:comment5}}
You have been temporarily blocked from editing for repeatedly violating Atkinspedia's neutral point of view policy. If you wish to make neutral and unbiased contributions, feel free to do so after the block expires.
{{subst:not censored}} Thank you for your attempts to improve Atkinspedia. However, I would like to remind you that Atkinspedia is not censored for minors, not even for profanity or pornography. You are welcome to remove clearly offensive material or inappropriate obscenities, but please do not remove/censor profanities or remove/disclaim sexually explicit material or links that are relevant to the article. In the meantime, please be bold and continue contributing to Atkinspedia. Thank you!
{{subst:not censored 2}} Hi. Your edits have been reverted because Atkinspedia is not censored for minors. If you still believe the material should be removed, censored, or disclaimed, please discuss it in the article's discussion page first. Any further changes to the article in this manner will be regarded as vandalism unless we can reach an agreement at the discussion page first. You may be blocked from editing Atkinspedia if you continue to ignore these warnings. You are encouraged to continue contributing to Atkinspedia in a helpful manner, but please keep this in mind. Thank you.
{{subst:spam}} Please do not add commercial links (or links to your own private websites) to Atkinspedia. Atkinspedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. If you feel the link should be added to the article please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Atkinspedia. Thanks.
{{subst:spam2}} Please stop adding commercial links to Atkinspedia. It is considered spamming, and Atkinspedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks.
{{subst:spam2a}} Adding unrelated external links to articles is considered vandalism. If you continue to use Atkinspedia for advertising, you will be blocked from editing.
{{subst:spam3}} Please stop. If you continue to use Atkinspedia for advertising, you will be blocked from editing.
{{subst:spam4}}
This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Atkinspedia.

{{subst:test}} Thank you for experimenting with Atkinspedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.

{{subst:test1a}} Please be careful not to remove content from Atkinspedia without a valid reason, which you should specify in the edit summary or on the article's talk page. Thank you.
{{subst:test2}} Please do not add nonsense to Atkinspedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.
{{subst:test2a}} Please do not remove content from Atkinspedia. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.

{{ subst:test2b{{#if:Article||Article}}{{#if:||{{{3}}}}}{{#if:||{{{4}}}}}{{#if:||etc.}}{{#if:||subst={{{subst}}}}} }} Please refrain from removing content from Atkinspedia, as you did to Article. It is considered vandalism. If you want to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.
{{subst:test3}} Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Atkinspedia.
{{subst:test4}}
This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Atkinspedia.
{{subst:test5}}
You have been temporarily blocked from editing for vandalism of Atkinspedia. Please note that page blanking, addition of random text or spam, deliberate misinformation, privacy violations, and repeated and blatant violation of WP:NPOV are considered vandalism. If you wish to make useful contributions, you may come back after the block expires.
{{subst:Anon vandal}}
You have recently vandalized a Atkinspedia article, and you are now being asked to stop this type of behavior. You're welcome to continue editing Atkinspedia, so long as these edits are constructive. Please see Atkinspedia's Blocking policy and what constitutes vandalism; such actions are not tolerated on Wikipedia, and are not taken lightly.

We hope that you will become a legitimate editor. Again, you are welcome here at Atkinspedia, but remember not to vandalize or you will soon be blocked from editing.

If you feel you have received this message in error, it may be because you are using a shared IP address. Nevertheless, repeated vandalism from this address may cause you to be included in any future punishments such as temporary blocks or bans. To avoid confusion in the future, we invite you to create a user account of your own.

Blocked
You have been blocked for vandalism for Duration. To contest this block, add the text {{unblock}} on this page, along with an explanation of why you believe this block to be unjustified. You can also email the blocking administrator or any administrator from this list. Please be sure to include your username (if you have one) and IP address in your email.

Please do not erase warnings on this page. Doing so is also considered vandalism. ~~~~
{{subst:vpblock}}

You have been permanently blocked in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for vandalism.

{{subst:verror}} Thanks for experimenting with Atkinspedia. Your test of deliberately adding incorrect information worked, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks.
{{subst:wr}} Please do not remove warnings from your talk page or replace them with offensive content. Removing or maliciously altering warnings from your talk page will not remove them from the page history. If you continue to remove or vandalize warnings from your talk page, you will lose your privilege of editing your talk page. Thanks.

What to type What it makes
{{subst:UploaderHints}} Hello!

Thanks for uploading some pictures to Atkinspedia. I wanted to make sure you were aware of some of the requirements and good practices for uploaded images.

  • Pick an image name.
When uploading an image, pick a file name that is descriptive, and unique. Remember that many images may be uploaded about the same topic, and remember that names are case sensitive.
  • Source the image.
On the image description page, explain where the image came from. If you created the image yourself, then say so. If it's from the web, give a URL. If it's a screenshot of a movie or game, or a scan from a book, give the title.
  • Provide copyright and license information.
This part is a little bit trickier, but it's very important. The copyright of the image generally belongs to whomever created it.
If it's a photograph you took, or an image you created (modifying an image that already exists doesn't count) in software like Photoshop or GIMP, then you own the copyright. To upload it to Atkinspedia, you must agree to license it under the GFDL (which allows anyone to use it, but requires that they give credit to the original author and requires that any further edit to the image be licensed under the GFDL as well) or release it into the public domain (which allows anyone to use it for any purpose without restriction.) Do this by placing an appropriate tag on the image description page, like {{GFDL}} or {{PD}}. Be sure to mention that you created the image. If you're using {{PD}}, you may also want to use {{NoRightsReserved}}, since there is some dispute as to whether one may grant items into the public domain.
If you didn't create the image, or the copyright somehow belongs to another party (like a screenshot, which you might "create", but the copyright belongs to the author of the movie or video game), then you need to find another tag that describes the copyright status of the image. Images used on Atkinspedia need to be free for our use and the use of sites which reproduce our content. This means that images cannot have a restriction such as "only for use by Atkinspedia", or "for non-commercial use only", or "for educational use". Images without a free license may be usable in certain articles under fair use, but such a use should be justified on the image description page.
  • Describe the image.
To another reader, the image may not be immediately understood. A caption in an article doesn't explain the image to a visitor who sees it on its image page. Put a brief explanation of what is in the image on the image description page, similar to what you might include in a caption on an article.

Thanks again for your contributions. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me at my talk page.
